Rough sawn timber and sawn log throughout, the carpenters excelled with their craftmanship under the direction of the owners to astound the future inhabitants. Antique lights, stainless steel kitchen, kauri, tiled and thickly carpeted floors, sound proofed walls, tanks of hot water, warmth in winter, respite from the heat in summer…it’s all there.
The silence and seclusion are exceptional; the privacy matchless as we only book one group at a time – yours. Walk along this property’s 3 kilometres of grass tracks and your eyeballs will succumb like never before: 360 degrees of mountains, heady vantage points over the Wakatipu basin 1000 feet below, the chest high grasses billowing in the wind, the wild flowers, the thousands of young and maturing trees, birdsong…the life force of the Earth runs strong here.
Play on the indoor climbing walls, jump on the trampoline, go skiing in Queenstown or Wanaka (we’re very central), ride your bike, go for a run, hang out on the verandah, have a BBQ, cruise through Arrowtown or Queenstown (both a short drive away), you are the only limit to your options.
From September through April, you will be treated to a most astounding indoor swimming pool. The 25 x 6 metre fibreglas pool utilises a filtration system of copper and silver to kill algae and bacteria so you are immersed in silky water free from any chemicals or un-natural products. Heated by a massive bank of solar panels, the water ranges in temperature from 27 – 34 degrees C. for most of the summer. The owners maintain a kaleidoscope of garden flora and greenery in the 1500 rammed earth car tyres that are the walls of the building. It is truly stunning.
A secluded, sole occupancy, luxurious and rustic self-contained lodge that comfortably sleeps up to 12 people in a stunning setting on 168 acres. 3 km of walking tracks with 360 degree mountainous views, an indoor solar heated 25 m swimming pool and an indoor climbing wall will occupy young and old if the silence and peacefulness aren't enough.
